Climbing Roses in STL
by: Deb in West County

We have lost several climbers, but we have 5 growing around our fence and blooming right now. We are currently looking for a climbing yellow ourselves. The closest we have right now is Cl Rainbow's End, which I saw at the Botanical Garden and fell in love with. The color changes as the flower matures. We also have Cl Don Juan (I think) and a couple of near wild types. They are gorgeous right now. Jackson & Perkins has one called "Scent from Above" which they claim is good to Zone 5. Everyone told us Golden Rain Showers was good but it died for us. I don't understand why someone would say climbers don't work here - they just need time to get established, don't expect it to cover the arbor the first year - Good Luck!

Sharon...just found your page because I have the same question. Did you come up with any great answers? I see Sugar Creek Nursery recommends one.
