Climbing Yellow Rose for Zone 5 MidWest

by Sharon
(St Louis, Missouri)

QUESTION: My brother built my Mom a beautiful rose arbor and planted two climbing yellow roses (her favorite).

however they are nothing to look at and continue to die off and grow off the root so we're continually cutting on them.

Is there a yellow climbing rose for our St.Louis zone that would be preferable to this one (sorry but someone threw the tag away so I don't know name).

Thanks, Sharon

ANSWER: Hi Sharon! Sorry, I don't know any yellow climbing rose that would survive cold midwest winters.

Climbing roses are mostly cold tender.

I recommend the cold hardy William Baffin Rose.

It's not yellow though, but pink, but it will do great in your climate.
Best Regards,
