Double Delight Roses
Rose Cold Tolerance
QUESTIONS: What is the cold tolerance of the Double Delight roses?
I had these roses before in Southern California, and other than pruning it, I didn't have to protect them from really cold temperatures.
As it freezes here sometimes (San Antonio, Tx), I now have to protect some plants.
What about the cold tolerance for the Double Delight rose bushes? What planting zone are they hardy to?

ANSWER: Hi Eileen! The Double Delight rose is a hybrid tea rose.
Hybrid teas are cold tender, meaning they can suffer from winterkill if they aren't winterized with protective coverings.
Although some encyclodedias of roses list it as being cold hardy to zone 4, I know from experience that it's risky to let hybrid tea roses go unprotected during frosty nights.
One product I highly recommend for winter protection is the winter rose collar.
You'll find that product on my page for winterizing roses.
I suggest you read that page so you know how to properly prepare the Double Delight rose for the winter months.
