Fragrant Roses For
The Coastal South

by Frank Edgerton
(Hilton Head island, SC)

QUESTION: I live on Hilton Head Island in SC and would very much like to grow some fragrant roses.

It is warm and humid here in the south for so many months of the year.

And I've been advised to forget my intention.

It's fragrance that I crave, not just the ability to grow a rose.

ANSWER: Hi Frank! Yes, there are fragrant roses that grow well in warm and humid climates.

The roses that grow well in Florida, would also grow well where you live.

Here is my page about growing roses in Florida with a list of roses that thrive in hot and humid weather. Many are very fragrant.
