Picture Of Golden Showers Rose

The best reasons for growing Golden Showers rose are it's cheerful blooms. The buds of the 'Golden Showers' rose are elegant and the sweet fragrance of it's wide opening, semi-double gorgeous flowers is of a mild licorice scent.

The flowers starts out bright yellow with high centers, then opening to a loosely ruffled form and fading to light cream as they age. Because the flowers appear at different color stages on the bush, it gives an interesting bi-color effect.

Golden Showers blooms without pausing from summer through autumn. Deep green, glossy leaves are growing on somewhat thorny canes.

Proper care of Golden Showers climbing roses, includes monthly fertilizing and regular deep watering during the growing season, as well as removing spent blooms to encourage good repeat-flowering.

It received AARS awards in 1956, the Portland Gold Medal in 1957, and the English Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit in 1993.

It's fairly vigorous as far as yellow climbing roses go, growing to 12 feet or more. Use it to dress up a wall, fence or wrap around a pillar. Zones 6-9, height 10-14 feet.

The picture above shows 'Golden Showers' rose trained on a picket fence. It would also look fabulous trained over an arbor or pergola.

I have seen it mixed with the red climbing 'Blaze' rose. If you have room to do that, I highly recommend it, because you will love the effect of the color combination. It is a very pretty display in a garden.

I included this photo so you can see this rose growing in a home garden setting.
