Growing Roses Over a Septic System

by Jim Wood

Is it a bad idea to plant a rose garden over a septic tank?

Hello Jim,
Sorry for the delay. We have had a death in the family.
Regarding your question about growing roses over a septic tank, I think it not the best place, because, sometimes your septic tank could need maintenance and have to be dug down to.
Your roses would then be displaced.

Now I know people are doing it, but if you intend to do it, you should contact your septic tank company to find out about your septic tank's "health".
If it's very "healthy", before planting, you need to add plenty of good organic top soil and compost.
Good luck with it if you decide.
