The Lincoln rose is a tall and vigorous hybrid tea rose with a heavy damask scent, that reminds me of old garden roses.
It was introduced by Swim & Weeks in 1964, and received an award from AARS in 1965.
The foilage is dark green with leathery matte leaves that is very attractive.
The lovely intensely fragrant rose blooms are dark red with 35 petals and exhibition form flower size of 4.5 - 6 inches in diameter.
The growth habit is upright which is the case with hybrid tea roses. It grows to about 5-7 feet tall, sometimes even a bit higher.
Mister Lincoln rose makes a stunning bush in the garden. Plant it in the back of a flower border.
It does best in areas with warm days and cool nights, such as in the Pacific South West. Zones 6-9.
