Planting Roses In South Carolina

QUESTION: When is the right time to plant roses in South Carolina? I live in Lexington County.
ANSWER: Hi Sharon! Here is my page about planting times for roses.
However, keep in mind that every area has pocket zones.
Therefore I recommend you consult with your local garden nursery that sell roses for the best planting time in Lexington county, SC.
Potted roses can be planted almost any time in your region of mild winters.
I don't recommend planting roses in the heat of the summer though.
Most roses don't flower well during hot weather.
Except for spring, your best flowering season is October and November, if you give your roses a dose of good rose food.
Best Regards,
Annelie
