Horizontal canes may bloom
by: AnnieWoy

Sometimes if you tie climbing rose canes into a horizontal or even a downward pointing direction it can trigger them to bloom. I think it is supposed to reduce the amount of sap flowing to the cane and that makes it flower instead of producing leaves. Might be worth a try if the alternative is the garbage can.

Hi Annie,
Thanks for your suggestion. However, with the Queen Elizabeth climber it will not work.

And I realy kniow how to train climbing roses. I am an expert at it.

I had this rose myself, and I am a Rosarian, and I trained all my climbers horizontally, including this climber.

Nothing helped at all.

The Queen Elizabeth rose is a poor flowering climbing rose. That's all there is to it.

I haven't had one person say it flowered well for them.
But I have had a ton of people saying they couln't get many blooms per season.

That's why I recommend to get rid of it.
As I did myself.
