Hybrid Tea 'Rose Gaujard'

rose gaujard

Picture of 'Rose Gaujard'

Rose Gaujard rose a Hybrid Tea rose. The 'Gaujard' roses were introduced by French rose breeder 'Jean Gaujard' of France in 1957.

It quickly became his best known Hybrid Tea, and 'Rose Gaujard' is still very popular and it's widely available all over the World.

The large rose flowers are a beautiful cherry red with a spectacular reverse of pale pink and silvery white coloring.

I find that these roses look stuning when paired with white roses, such as the 'Iceberg', or the 'Fabulous'. Under planting with blue and white low growing perennials will really show off the 'Gaujard' roses.

'Rose Gaujard' Rose Bushes

The contrast is very dramatic and quite stunning. The buds of 'Rose Gaujard' have the classic long, conical shape of the Hybrid Tea, and are actually fantasticly gorgeous as they start to unfold and open up.

The open flowers are very large with 80 rose petals.

The foilage of 'Rose Gaujard' is large as well, and dark green and very healthy and disease resistant. It's a most reliable repeat bloomer, with some of the best flower show coming in during fall.

'Rose Gaujard' are perfect for cutting, and make a stunning arrangement or a bouquet of red roses. The fragrance is light and sweet. The 'Rose Gaujard' received the National Rose Society Gold Medal in 1958. Zones 6-10, heght about 4 feet, (1.25M).
