Rose Hedges

Hedge Rose Varieties
Did you know that rose hedges are fast growing and are great for privacy as well?
Below are my favorite and the best rose shrubs for hedges that are hardy, disease resistant, and fragrant to boot.
Some are named hedge roses, but there are several regular shrub roses that make great hedge rose varieties for smaller,
or medium size hedges.
Almost any low maintenance shrub rose with dense foilage, that is disease free and flowers with abundance all season long, will
make a good hedge.
However, the rugosa roses are among the
easiest since they don't need to be pruned. Yes, you read that right, no pruning.!
And the rugosas are also the most pest and disease resistant of all the rose bushes.
It's super important to pick the right spot for your hedge.
The planting site should have open space on both sides, to provide air circulation, which helps to cut down on any
fungus problems. Roses like good air circulation.
The planting spot must have full sun with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day.
If you plan to plant more than 5 roses for a hedge, consider hiring someone to dig the holes, and to help with the
planting.
