The legend of the Cherokee Rose:
As the Cherokee people traveled on "the trail of tears" the mothers could see their families dying. They prayed and prayed to the Great Spirit. He reassured them saying he would prevail. Each time one of their tears touched Mother Earth, a Cherokee Rose sprang up as a sign of hope. In our family any rose is cherised, but above all the Cherokee Rose is revered as it is a sign of hope for the future. We need that hope now, more than ever.
