Sawflies and Yellow Roses

QUESTION: Hi,
Last summer I had an infestation of sawflies.

I would like to know if they overwinter and if so what is the best course of action.

I refuse to use insecticides.

I would also like to know what is the best disease resistant yellow floribunda.

Any info would be greatly appreciaated.

ANSWER: Hi Becky! Sawflies lay eggs, and they are hard to control.

And the larvae could overwinter. So do some real clean up before adding mulch around the roses.

Since you don't like to spray insecticide, I recommend you plant some insect detering plants.

They will help you keep pests away from your roses and other flowering perennials.

I like the yellow Julia Childs floribunda rose, and I think you will also.

Plant some blue flowering companion plants with it for a beautiful color combination.
