Yellow Roses For Indiana

QUESTION: Hello - I'm wondering if you can recommend a yellow rose bush for central Indiana.

My mother has been wanting yellow roses but hasn't had any luck finding them at the local nurseries.

I'd like to surprise her by having one yellow rose planted when she gets home from my sister's place later this month.

ANSWER: Hi Matt!

You should choose a yellow rose for winter hardiness, since Indiana can have late surprise winter frosts.

The sub zero roses would be excellent for the Indiana region.

Since your Mother wants a yellow rose bush, I picked out some that are doing well in Indiana per the American Rose Society, which I am a proud member of.

The Gold Medal rose and the Graham Thomas rose are wonderful yellow rose bushes that are thriving in Indiana.

Just make sure you plant them well so they will grow and flower the best.

Here is my page about planting roses.
I think your Mother would enjoy either one.
